To celebrate 55 years since Mercedes-AMG was created, the performance brand is set to release two incredible special edition packages to liven up it’s line-up. This announcement comes after the announcement of the Mercedes AMG G63 Edition 55, which will also be released in celebration of the 55 year anniversary.
This time around, the Mercedes-AMG A35 and the Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 are both set to be available with a stunning Edition 55 package option, which will see both cars get a design and equipment upgrade. These editions are currently available to order in Europe, which has given us an insight into just what you can expect from Edition 55.
To start things off, both vehicles will receive the impressive AMG Aerodynamics Package, which includes a rear wing, a new front apron, a larger front splitter and side spoiler lips. Owners are also treated to an exclusive ‘55th Anniversaty’ plaque on the steering wheel – a small detail, but one that is much appreciated in a stunning special edition vehicle.
There are currently two colours available to choose from – the Cosmos Black Metallic, and the Digital White Metallic, both of which feature 19-inch alloy wheels with a matte titanium grey finish. This contrasts perfectly with a high-sheen rim flange, as well as bold side graphics and chrome fuel filler caps with crisp AMG lettering.
Inside the car, the cabin is as stunning as ever with a sleek, bold combination of black and red leather AMG performance seats, with a microfibre finish steering wheel for a comfortable, soft-touch driving experience. The red accents grace the illuminated door sill plates, floor mats and door panels and as standard, the door sills also have the much-loved AMG lettering.
Both vehicles are also fitted with the Night and Night II packages, which will add additional gloss black trims to the front splitter, trim elements, window sills, outer air intakes and exterior mirrors. These gloss trims are also joined by matte black tailpipes and dark badging, as well as tinted windows.
As far as performance goes, the 55 Edition vehicles will run on the same systems as standard – though that’s nothing to turn a nose up at! The A35 and CLA 35 both feature a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with 302bhp. This power gives you the ability to go from 0-62mph in just 4.7 seconds, with top speeds of 155 mph.
Currently, the package seems to be around the €12,600 mark in Europe, with UK prices predicted to be similar.
