Mercedes-AMG’s brand new EQS 53 is the very first all-electric series-production vehicle under the AMG line and certainly won’t disappoint those looking to make the investment. With two models available, including the Night Edition and Touring, this luxury vehicle is set to be one of Mercedes-AMG’s best yet, with 648bhp and an electric range of up to 358 miles.
Driving the EQS 53 is both exciting and intimidating, with both models designed to offer a luxurious driving experience with a dash of class and, of course, plenty of performance. Both models are heavy, but have the agility and drivability not usually found in heavier vehicles, and will both set you back £154,995 or more.
The Night Edition model will be equipped with full leather upholstery, sports pedals, a flat-bottomed steering wheel and 21-inch alloy wheels as standard, with the option of adding AMG’s performance package to provide an impressive boost. The package increases the overall power to 751bhp and increases its top speed to 155mph, with a lower 0-62mph time of 3.4seconds. You can also expect to see ceramic brakes for an enhanced braking experience.
The Touring edition will feature 22-inch alloy wheels and ambient lighting, with a heavy focus on comfortable but classy performance and style. You can choose to invest an additional £2,995 into a rear luxury lounge package too, which will treat you to improved, black Nappa leather seating, improved head restraints, wireless mobile charging, additional USB ports and a multimedia tablet.
Both editions will also come equipped with Mercedes’ hyperscreen package as standard. This will offer you an augmented reality display, standard Nappa leather upholstery, active park assist with a 360-degree camera and the Burmester Surround-Sound system. You’ll also have access to a three-year subscription to Mercedes Me Charge, which provides unlimited charging for a single monthly cost.
The vehicle will see improvements from previous AMG-specific electric models, including improved motor positions that will improve currents and the rotational speeds of the units, ultimately leading to boosted power and torque within the vehicle.
The Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 will be available to order now, with the first of these models set to be manufactured and delivered in early 2022.
